Questions & Excuses!

By far the vast majority of people who think they can't sing, CAN sing. What makes a difference is confidence to give it a try and find your unique voice. Choir singing is great for this because you're not alone. Everyone is very supportive of each other as we all had to start somewhere. 

If you can sing along to your favourite songs, you can sing in a choir. There is no requirement to read printed sheet music (notation) or have prior experience playing an instrument/singing.

We all make mistakes! But it's no big deal, probably no one will notice but you (and we're all far too polite to point it out). 

No, you'll never be singled out to sing on your own (unless you want to!). 

Sometimes there are songs that require soloists. If you'd like to you can volunteer to sing these parts when they arise.

We sing from many different styles and genres, sometimes in foreign languages, but mostly in English. Sometimes we all sing the same thing at the same time (unison) and other times will split into sections and sing in harmony.

Nonsense! Membership is open to all ages (from 16+). You've probably been singing in the shower all your life, so it's hardly like starting from nothing! 

Ideally yes. 

Come try for a few rehearsals to see if you like it.

If you think you'd like to join, we ask for a weekly commitment to practice together for around 2 hours a week, during school terms. Of course, we realise that you have a life outside of singing and members will invariably miss a few sessions due to other commitments. This is fine.

But if you think you'll have trouble attending most rehearsals our group may not be right for you.
